This pattern was part of a collection from Knitting Expat which were all designed around using sets of minis or leftovers, and so far it’s the only one I’ve knit although I have yarn set aside for two others in my queue.
It wasn’t super successful as a stashbuster as I still have quite a bit of the Tamar leftover that will have to find another use, and had 10g+ of each of the Cascade yarns, which have now gone into my scrappy blanket.
This was probably also the closest I’ve come to scrapping a project altogether. I messed up beyond repair (while on a train) while on the first mitt and had to frog. At that point I debated whether I even liked how they had been turning out enough to restart, but I did, and I’m fairly pleased with the end result.
The fisherman’s rib is a bit like brioche but worked differently, and goes well with the cable motif. The fit on these is good although the thumb is a little tight, and they are a bit longer than ideal – it’s a bit snug under my coatsleeves. The yarn also makes them very warm and a little bit rough, but they will wear well.
